State of the MMO Union (eh so to speak)

by Hakagan on Thu Aug 04, 2011 12:51 am

Well here we are again, another opinionated post from everyone's favorite Enhancement Shaman.

World of Warcraft Loses another 300k Subscriptions

Another earnings call has come and gone and WoW has lost yet another chunk of players. Think back to the FYQ2 call, Activision-Blizzard (A/B) had stated it had lost 600k subscribers. Fast forward to today and the FYQ3 call, A/B has claimed another 300k loss. In total (if my napkin math is correct) that's a 7.5% loss of subscriptions in 6 months.

Let's face it, while there are a host of reasons as to why this is happening: Game getting stale, lack of content, lack of developer input, laziness overall with the game's development, one thing is certain... Blizzard needs to turn it around. People will claim WoW is fine, it's a 7 year old game that still has 11.1 million subscriptions around the world. I agree, Blizzard and by extension WoW will remain #1 for some time even with this loss, it's a trend that the people at Blizzard...

BioWare and SWTOR @ E3 Rant.

by Hakagan on Thu Jun 09, 2011 1:10 pm

Well, it's been a while (almost a year to the day) since my last entry but since I'm so disappointed with the recent showing of BioWare at E3 regarding SWTOR, I figured this would be a suitable place to vent. This is all my personal opinion. If you disagree, please let me know why in the comments below. I want to be excited about SWTOR, I really do. But so far, I'm a long ways off.

Here is a debate currently ongoing on another forum with my PoV on SWTOR and E3.

Myself:
Honestly, I feel for BioWare. This year's E3 has been a huge disaster.

Poster #1:
How so? ME3 and SW look great.

Myself:
In regards to the information given to SWTOR, the delivery was completely disorganized. From being told we'd see a live raid boss, to other fuckups, the shit has been a letdown...

[WoW] MLG Columbus/Future of WoW PvP

by Hakagan on Thu Jun 10, 2010 12:29 am

Well it's been a few days since MLG Columbus entered into the history books and I must say overall I was definitely pleased with the tournament as a whole.

MLG Columbus was, in my opinion, a great way to start of the MLG 2010 PC Circuit. The tournament hosted a wide variety of players, new and old, as well as a variety of Comps. Unlike the tournaments of 2009, MLG Columbus was as close to Live Arena as a tournament can get. This year's rules allowed for Season 8 gear as well as Item Level 264 PvE gear. This allowed for a much more realistic view of the current Arena scene, despite knowing the Comp you're facing and the lack of Tier 2 PvP weapons which gave Casters a slight advantage.

Like stated above Columbus hosted a large variety of comps, ranging from the classic Warrior/Lock/Druid(WLD) and Rogue/Mage/Priest(RMP) to the newer Wizard Cleave variants which included Shaman/Priest/Druid (SPD) and Warlock/Mage/Druid, etc. We even saw "DK Hero" Jigslol run DK/Rogue/Priest. Also...
